Business Card

For my professional practice class we have to make a business card for ourselves.  This is the front and I'm still debating on what to do for the back.

Head Paintings

At Whitaker's I've been doing some studies of heads in the effort to learn brush technique among other things.  Bill has several old black and white daguerreotypes, some real and some copies, which are early photographs produced on a silver or a silver-covered copper plate, which I've been painting from.  People had the most interesting hair in those days, extremely long sideburns and beards shaved to only grow under the chin.

Story 1

Two illustrations for a children's book I may just write some day.  At least this time I had the story summery down before doing the illustration.

FirstAid

An illustration of a scene for children's book I'm thinking about writing.  That's right.  I did the illustration even before I penned the story, or story summery for that matter.  Fall semester I bought cereal with the paperback Spiderwick books in it and saw what a fun style Tony Diterlizzi has and what a neat look watercolor and pen can get, so I thought I would give it a try.  I ended up buying three different types of cereal to get all three books.

Barque Drawings

Charles Barque copies done in Bill Whitaker's studio.  The point of making the copy is to train the eye to see accurately.

A drawing of my sister lindsey.  It took quite a while.
